Miles Over the Moon6th Annual Miles Over the Moon 4 mile Road Race - A “Midsummer Night” Run
Online registration is now closed for the 2017 Miles Over the Moon road race. Race day registration will be available at the Knights of Columbus–Salem Common starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14.
We want to remind all runners about the following:
- Please wear bright, reflective clothing on race night.
- The streets will NOT be closed for the race. There will be helpful officers and friendly volunteers along the course, but please mind traffic.
- The weather will be cloudy with possible showers. The streets may be slippery and it will be darker than usual. Plan your running gear accordingly.
- There will be a number of post-race treats available for runners thanks to our generous sponsors. Please note that many portions will be sample sized. Bananas and chips will be available as well.
- Have fun out there and thank you to all for running and volunteering!
All proceeds from the race support the Wicked Running Club Youth Running Fund which provides donations to local high school track programs and financial support for the family-friendly Wicked Kidz race.

Race start is on Washington Square East. Registration is at Knights of Columbus located at 94 Washington Square East, near the Salem Common, 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm.
We’re partnering with Craft Sportswear to offer an awesome glow-in-the-dark race shirt to the first 300 registered runners in 2017!
Timing and Results
Race will be professionally chip-times by North Shore Timing Co. using the MyLaps bib tag system. Results will be available post-race via text message (must provide cell phone number on application and regular text message rates will apply) and on coolrunning.com.
Trophies for overall 1st place male and female winners. Age group medals for top 3 male and females: under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Awards and presentations as well as post-race food, beverages and cash bar at the Knights of Columbus, 94 Washington Sq. East.

Runners Safety: Because this is a night time race we encourage all runners to wear reflective clothing. The course is not closed off to traffic and we want everyone to have a fun and safe time.
New course for 2017!
Course Details: Race begins Washington Sq. East and Boardman Street. Runners will proceed straight on Pleasant St., take a right on to Bridge St. and a right on Planters St. Continue with a right on East Collins St then onto the bike path then proceed on to Szetela Lane/Memorial Drive. Loop through the Willows and take a right on to Fort Ave, a right on Memorial Drive, left onto Szetela, right onto bike path, left on bike path towards Andrew Street, cross Essex onto Andrew Street, left into Common and finish on historic Salem Common.
Course Highlights: Enjoy great sunset views around Salem’s waterfront with this unique race route that loops around Collins Cove. Enjoy a downhill trip down Salem’s notorious Naumkeag Hill, but prepare yourself for a long, slow uphill on Fort Avenue. The race finishes in historic Salem Common with a fun after-party at the Knights of Columbus!
