Annual Miles Over the Moon 4 mile Road Race - A “Midsummer Night” Run

Save The Date: Friday July 16 2021 at 8PM!

The MOTM committee and the Wicked Running Club are closely watching MA State COVID regulations and engaging with the City of Salem to understand if we can hold an in-person version of MOTM in 2021. The best information we have is that actual road races are not allowed until Phase IV, Step 2 of the reopening Massachusetts plan (we are currently in Phase IV, Step 1). When Step 2 occurs, we will continue our dialogue with the City of Salem as they will set local policy within those State regulations.

That said, we are doing everything we can in our hope to return to racing in 2021, and that includes setting a tentative date: July 16. This is still several months away so there is plenty of time for you to prepare for the return of our great 4-mile twilight evening event! While pre-registration is not open at this time, we encourage everyone to get as pre-excited as we are! Mark your calendars and watch this page for further information!

Best in health and fitness,

The MOTM Committee

We want to remind all runners about the following:

  • Please wear bright, reflective clothing on race night.
  • The streets will NOT be closed for the race. There will be helpful officers and friendly volunteers along the course, but please mind traffic.
  • Have fun out there and thank you to all for running and volunteering!

All proceeds to support the Wicked Running Club Youth Running Fund. This fund supports annual donations to local high school track programs and the family-friendly Wicked Kidz race.

2018 Miles Over the Moon Course Map

Our course features a fast and fun four miles through historic Salem featuring waterfront views.

Race begins at Bentley School, running east on Memorial Drive, past Dead Horse Beach and around the front of Salem Willows, turning right on Fort Ave. Head down Fort back to Memorial Drive, taking a left onto Szetela. Run down Szetela to Essex Street, then a right on Washington where runners will then take a left into Salem Common. A 2/3rds loop around the inside of the common will have runners exiting the common at Pleasant Street. Left on Pleasant down to Bridge Street, then right on Bridge to Osgood Street. Runners will then go through Collins Cove on East Collins Street, take a right onto the Bike Path, then left back on Szetela returning to the Bentley School.

Course Highlights: Enjoy great sunset views around Salem’s waterfront with this unique race route that loops around Collins Cove. Race begins with a slight downhill trip down Salem’s notorious Naumkeag Hill followed by a long slow uphill on Fort Avenue. The course loops through Salem Common, then back around Collins Cove to race headquarters, where you can enjoy post-race refreshments and celebrate your twilight run accomplishment!

Helpful volunteers will be on the course directing your way.
