From: Greg Hart, Wicked Running Club Race Liaison
With Fall quickly approaching, it is time to start thinking about The North Shore Cancer RUN! This is the October race in the Wicked Grand Prix series.
Members participating in the series who run this race will be scored whether they choose the 5k or 10k race…and volunteers get the immense satisfaction of knowing they played a role in making this great event happen!
As many of you may know, the Wicked Running Club has been the official partner in planning this race since its inception. We have added this to our Grand Prix series this year and need club support with both running the actual race and with volunteers on race day.
Here are some important details about the event:
The race is set for Sunday, October 15th and it begins and ends at the Beverly Cove Community Center.
The cost to participate in this race is technically $31.00. The registration fee is $30.00 and there is a part in registration where you need to enter a minimum of $1.00 to continue with the registration process (see below).
In order to receive a race shirt, you must raise at least $100. In order for the Wicked Running Club to earn a brick in the healing garden at the MGH Cancer Center in Danvers, we need to raise $3,000 as a team. You are not required to fundraise to run this race.
Registration for the race is here: http://nsmcgiving.partners.org/2017run
- Click the ‘Register’ button and select either ‘New Participant’ or ‘Past Participant’.
- Fill out information and click ‘Next’.
- Select ‘Join an Existing Team’ and set your fundraising goal for any number you want (you must enter at least $1.00).
- On the next screen, search for and join “Team Wicked Nation”.

If you are NOT participating in the club Grand Prix series, we want you! We need about 30 volunteers to help along the course. Please email me, Greg Hart (email@example.com), if you can volunteer. This is a great event and a great way for us to give back to the community.
Volunteers will report to the Beverly Cove Community Center at approximately 7:00 a.m. on race day and be asked to spend 60-90 minutes at their designated station along the course. Easy, right?!?
Team Wicked Nation:
The North Shore Cancer RUN is a meaningful way to participate in a race while helping local patients at the North Shore Medical Center and the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center. For those who would like to help with reaching our $3,000 club goal, Melissa Moore will be your Team Wicked Nation coach. Go Melissa and team!
Please keep in mind that your fundraising goal is an amount to strive for–your credit card will not be charged if you do not make your personal goal. The Wicked Running Club would greatly appreciate as many participants as possible to help us reach our club goal for this worthy cause.
If you have any questions about the event or if you can sign up to volunteer, please contact me. This is a great chance to make ourselves, the North Shore Medical Center folks, and the community proud with record turnout on both the race participation and volunteer sides!
